AlgaEducate – Age-appropriate knowledge transfer

Understanding and experiencing algae in all their diversity

Algae as food of the future – bringing knowledge to life

While algae and other aquatic products have been part of the diet in Asian countries for centuries, they are still somewhat of a niche product in Europe. We want to change that! Our project aims to inspire young people and adults to take an interest in the fascinating world of the ‘blue bioeconomy’ and algae biotechnology.

To this end, we offer exciting educational programmes on topics such as:

✅ The role of microalgae in our ecosystem

✅ Sustainable biotechnology and marine research

✅ Healthy nutrition with innovative foods

Experience instead of just listening

To ensure that knowledge is not only imparted but also experienced, we develop age-appropriate courses, lectures and interactive workshops. The programme is supplemented by illustrative learning and information materials – from classic print media to digital formats for various multimedia platforms.

A special highlight: interactive 4D information materials that bring algae biotechnology to life through virtual reality glasses and modern imaging techniques.

Transparent production – experience algae up close

SST's microalgae production, which is similar to manufacturing, serves as an example of the ‘blue bioeconomy’ and is made accessible to the public through the project. Under the motto ‘transparent production’, we show how sustainable and innovative foods are created – to marvel at, touch and try!

To enhance the impact of the project, we are working with committed multipliers who spread the knowledge and raise awareness for a sustainable future.
