Blue bioeconomy workshop series

Exciting workshop series on the blue bioeconomy For (prospective) founders and anyone who wants to become one, for anyone who is interested in the blue bioeconomy, wants to deepen their knowledge and make valuable contacts, for anyone who is looking for valuable exchange and connection to a good network – the workshop “Entrepreneurship in the Blue Bioeconomy” is designed and made for all of them!

Participation is possible on site in Kiel (at the brand-new Marine Science Campus in Kiel) or online. No prior knowledge is required. Participation is free of charge thanks to co-financing from the EU project “Baltic Muppets.” This is a unique opportunity!

We all know that a business can only function in the long term if it is economically viable. We also know that the use of natural resources from the sea (and in general) is only sustainable if ecological and planetary boundaries are respected. But how can we reconcile the two? We will explore this question with the help of experts from business and science.

The workshop series aims to familiarize participants with key aspects of successfully founding and managing a business in the blue bioeconomy. Topics range from the basics of marine ecology and food production through aquaculture to the development of sustainable products from water resources, highlighting the risks and opportunities involved in dealing with residual materials from the sea. We shed light on the fundamentals of the business world and offer an introduction to the practice of decision-making in business development.

From January to June 2025, a two-day workshop combining theory and practice will take place every month. The workshops are expected to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The content is designed so that no prior knowledge is expected, but a willingness to understand and build on connections is required. The final program for each module with the exact times will be sent to participants about two weeks before the start. Those who attend five of the six workshops will receive a certificate of participation.
