14th Büsum Fish Day

The world population is growing, people's incomes are rising worldwide and the demand for edible fish has grown rapidly. The oceans can no longer keep pace with the growth in demand. Many fishing grounds are overfished, but aquaculture can provide a solution. Already today, half of the demand for fish for consumption is met by aquaculture production – and the trend is rising. With the importance and scale of aquaculture production, the importance of aquaculture research and development is also growing, although it is still far from reaching the level and scale of research and development for other farm animals. In order to do justice to the increased importance of aquaculture in Schleswig-Holstein, a forum for exchange on current developments in this area, the Büsum Fish Day, has been in existence since 2010. These events are intended to examine and discuss the many aspects of aquaculture.
