Prof. Reintjes is head of the Industrial Ecology working group at Lübeck Technical University (THL). The Laboratory for Conceptual Environmental Protection, which Reintjes heads, deals with various instruments for environmental assessment and protection and enables the modeling of energy and material flows of all kinds. This allows operational environmental balances, as well as various footprints and even life cycle assessments, to be calculated and presented. At the heart of this is the UMBERTO LCA+® accounting software and access to the ECOINVENT® database with thousands of constantly updated environmental generic data sets.
In AQUATOR, THL focuses on a solid assessment of the environmental impacts of products, processes, and systems within BaMS. To this end, it is necessary to identify the specific environmental issues in iterative comparison with the current scientific and social discourse and to answer them as best as possible using appropriate methods.
